Half my cards won't play

Tout sur iStripper

To not Clutter/Hijack the Topic is this my last Answer to you @pickle1 for your specific Comment
I would not ask you to reveal that which is private to yourself.
Because i don't want to be Disrespectful, but i won't reveal too much private Details anyway.
So to Respond to your Comment, please watch these two Videos first in Order.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnDhQo_M5pA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_7tuL0kbCE

And further the Comment under the second Video (incl. all Answers)
from the User firatealt which begins with:
This might only be me, but I find it much easier to google or research on my own than posting a question in a forum..
And yes both Guys from the Videos are right. Because your Passion for Help is getting Lost
when you are getting offended or/and insulted for your Help.

This is the Reason why i didn't participated on the mentioned Discussions Windows vs. Linux.
And further yes some Users in some Linux Community are getting Toxic, and it makes myself sad.
Or they Think they knows better, or are the Experts Good Lord i ***** this so much.
Like i was saying on the other Topic,
I'm not an Linux Expert myself, more an advanced Linux User.
In my Opionion none of us is an Expert, we grow with our challenges,
and we Learn from our Experiences.
And Trust me, or not when i'm be able to provide my Knowledge, i will do that for sure.
But for the Reasons, which were mentioned in both Videos, i went back from that
Toxic Community/People and stick on my own like the User firatealt from the Comments.

Because some People forget about one very Important Fact, Appreciation.

Then my Opinion is, you can Learn everything you want either Windows, MacOS or Linux.
The only thing you need to do is, You have to want it, nothing more nothing less.
Otherwise you will Fail for sure.
And yes it is possible, from my own Experience to solve your Problems almost to 90% for yourself.
For that are the Wikis, the Documentations and Google.

Hope that Answers your Questuion.

Sorry @sh42n81 for Cluttering the Topic, but like as I mentioned, we can Help/Discuss
each other in the other Topic.

Half my cards won't play

Greetings @sh42n81 :)

Very Nice, another Linux/Ubuntu User 😊
Although desktop playback is glitchy, full screen playback is very good and that's all I need.
I agree, see my Post here,
https://www.istripper.com/forum/thread/44718/1#post663189
and here.
https://www.istripper.com/de/forum/thread/36697/1?post=671381
I have 142 active cards and half of them play just fine
All my 720p Cards (in Total 71) won't also Play. And also all Cards from Kathy won't play
https://www.istripper.com/model/kathy
which are all in 1080p.

Couple Days ago i deleted and redownloaded all my 720p Cards,
and now some of them Play, some not. But still not the Cards of Kathy after redownload.
Is there maybe just an older codec that I'm missing, or something simple like that?
Yes i think this is a Codec Problem, but i didn't investigated that further so far.
Open up your Terminal and Execute this Command:
sudo apt install libxvidcore4 gstreamer1.0-plugins-base gstreamer1.0-plugins-good gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad gstreamer1.0-alsa gstreamer1.0-libav
Further here is this Site:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EasyCodecInstallation
which is unfortunately Outdated (Last Change in 2008-08-06)
I don't know how to give any more detail than I already have
That is your Path of your Wine Installation, when you were using PlayonLinux,
which i can't see in your Post so far (USERNAME is your Name on your Local Machine).
/home/USERNAME/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/vghd/drive_c/users/USERNAME/Local Settings/Application Data/vghd/data/

Otherwise you can use Locate,
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/bionic/man1/locate.findutils.1.html
to find the data Directory/the correct Path, which containing the vghd.log File,
but i think as far i could read it, you found that already.
And also keep an Eye on your Logfiles
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LinuxLogFiles
here is a good Start.
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LinuxLogFiles#Essential_Commands

All in all i Accepted the Fact with the unplayable Cards, and i'm Buying only
1080p Cards which are also available in 3K so far (Standard, Crystal Clear and Crystal Clear+)
And i Recommend you to prefer only Crystal Clear and Crystal Clear+ Cards.

And because of the Fullscreenmode you should read this Topic here.
The User @Carstrip @7171al71 and myself are Creating some really nice
Fullscreenscenes. And the Interesting Part is Starting here,

and here are my Scenes, and i found some more Good Stuff 😉

Works all like a Charm and Helps to avoid the Flickering in Desktop Mode.
More i can't do for you at the Moment, but when you want we can Help each other,
and/or Discuss further on this Topic.

Half my cards won't play

Tout sur iStripper

Hi forum experts!

I'll start by saying I understand that running iStripper on Ubuntu with Wine is NOT supported, but I have it basically working, so I want to reach out to you about this issue in case you have some simple advice. Although desktop playback is glitchy, full screen playback is very good and that's all I need. I haven't tested audio because I don't really care about it.

I have 142 active cards and half of them play just fine; the other half don't. Every card released (or updated) in 2014 or later plays with no problem. Most, but not all, cards released in 2013 or earlier won't play. The success rate lessens the older the cards are. What's really strange is there are a few cards as far back as 2010 (and even one from 2008) that will play. Most of the ones of that age that will play are 1080p resolution. Most of the 720p cards will not play, but all 720p cards after 2013 will play. The one from 2008 that will play is 720p; that one is a0437.

Every time a clip fails to play, an entry appears in the log:

vhd: [CBaseAnimFile::sc_Open] WARNING["models:c0321/c0321_sc2_33502.vghd" animfile->Open() returned false.]

Of course, the referenced card number changes in the log entry based on which card failed to play.

Is there maybe just an older codec that I'm missing, or something simple like that? This is working well enough that I'm not going back to Windows, but I will really miss having those old favorite cards.

The above is copied and pasted from the ticket that I opened with support. They responded by asking for a screenshot and details of the error. I don't know how to give any more detail than I already have; I even listed for them every card number that won't play. And I don't know how to take a screenshot of something *not* happening.

So, I'm asking you wise gurus of the Forum--any thoughts? Thank you!
