I have played this every day since joining and never won. I don't have bad luck outside of iStripper so the odds cannot be as they describe. I am now only going to do the daily jackpot for cards I am not interested in and buy the ones I like at the discounted rate when new. Will save a ton.
I was like you. Played it for a while with only one win. Just for funsies I started playing again recently and have 'won' in 4 of the last 6 draws!!! It is a bit daft actually playing it since, with my membership level and early purchase discount, a new card only costs me 12CR so I would need to win one in every six plays to break even.
The key word here is 'luck'. There is no rhyme or reason to it. However, Totem have dressed it up cleverly with this 1 winner in every 10 tickets. Seems a reasonable chance until you study the math.
For example, let's say a draw has 750 entries so 75 winners., the listed 1 in 10 chance (10%). But look at how quickly that changes as the number of winning tickets falls disproportionally against the remaining entries.
So the full sequence is -
At no winners drawn, 750 entries remain, 10% (1 in 10)
25 winners drawn, 725 entires remain, 6.90% (1 in 15)
50 winners drawn , 700 entries remain, 3.57% (1 in 28)
65 winners draw, 685 entries remain, 1.46% (1 in 68)
74 winners drawn, 676 entries remain, 0.15% (1 in 676)
Once you add in that dynamic of winning tickets being drawn, it gives a whole different perspective. Totem are not being dishonest, the pre-draw chances are 1 in 10. Possibly more important to consider is that point of how much the card would cost if you bought it and divide it by 2 (credits) and see how how often you would have to win to make it a viable 'gamble'. The lure of winning can disguise the real odds you are playing to.
