@Wyldanimal That's an excellent idea. The step-by-step is now quite simple after I found the resolution. My Linux skill level is slightly-more-than-beginner; building a package is beyond my ability at this point. But writing tutorials is a part of my day job; that I can handle. I'll work on it, with @Stanston's input.

Yes and no. It's good enough for me and I would even say great, because it now does what I want for my specific use case and I don't mind the little quirks. I want to run the Full Screen scenes all the time on my living room TV and I don't need to have the models interacting with my Desktop. The wide variety of user-made scenes makes this use much more exciting and better than Desktop mode, in my opinion.

But I agree that an official version designed to run natively in Linux would likely be better. Some of the quirks of running with Wine include the well-documented glitchy playback in Desktop mode, which will be a deal-breaker for many people, some issues with the UI not drawing properly when restored from the system tray (this may be resolved by one of the packages suggested by @Stanston; I need to try this again after my fresh install), and Full Screen mode crashes or hangs when music is enabled if there are any .mp3 or .wma files in the Musics folder (I haven't tried uncompressed music files, and I haven't tried music in Desktop mode).

I do have to give kudos to Totem about this, though: I would not have been surprised if iStripper would have crashed every time it tried to play one of those older clips and found that it could not access WMVDECOD.DLL. Instead, it simply skips the clip and moves on to another one. It would be nice if the log entry was more descriptive, but at least there was an entry present for each incident so I had something to go on.

I know I said I was going to accept the fact that those older cards won't play on my Linux PC, but I ***** to admit defeat--especially when it means saying goodbye to my beloved Chiara. So I kept after it like Captain Ahab. And I WON! lol

I finally found something that would install WMVDECOD.DLL without validating a Windows license. The Windows Media Format Runtime, available at Softpedia. https://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Codec-Packs-Video-Codecs/Windows-Media-Format-Runtime-11.shtml

The installation is a bit tricky: I had to set the Windows version to XP in the Wine prefix because the runtime won't install on anything later. But, when it's set that way, then I can't choose a new directory for my model files because the file browser doesn't work right. Fortunately, I could set it back to Win7 after installing the runtime and the decoder still works fine.

After confirming that it works, I ended up blowing up the virtual drive completely and doing a fresh install of iStripper and the WMF Runtime, because I had screwed around with everything so much that it got kind of messy. Now, everything's clean and ALL my cards play!

I wrestled that badboy TO THE GROUND! 😎 (Please forgive my exuberance. I needed to flex, hope you understand.)

I didn't upload the other "cream lounge" files as I thought the first two were a little lackluster, but I will update the file on the drive with the other 2 now for those who want them. Yes the modifications I made to Red club was intended, I moved the red lights on the side higher because I found it was too overbearing at the front, I wanted more focus on the girls and less on the scene, sorry you dont like the change 😟

After verification on certain of your scenes, i see the scenes "Cream Lounge", "cream Lounge 2 girls" and "cream lounge 2 girls camera zoom" are absent in the file "Cream Lounge - Carstrip".

I see also a difference with the lights (red and blue) in the scene "Red club 3 girls no zoom" and "red club 3 girls no zoom - carstrip", without the red lights ont the side, and more white light on the center.

is it intended or is it an oversight?

This product requires up front payment. Sometimes upwards of $200+ a pop. Trust in the company is paramount to the long term viability of the product. if I am honest, the SE and gambling INITIALLY made me invest larger sums of money because I trusted they had more liquidity, and the product would still be viable in 6 months or a year. Recently though I have pulled back and not invested nearly as much, mostly because the overall talent doesn't entice me to spend as much. I have no problem with the gambling and SE at this point, but I do think the complainers have solid footing to voice their complaints.

Also, if I buy 2000 credits...those credits will last me about 14 months... can I trust that they will be investing into models and not games/UI/SE? Can I trust that they are actively searching for the best models in the world, that they are innovating the actual product. or paying for the best stage managers and show scripters, or photographers. And am I willing to invest less at a higher price when I am not confident in the future product? This is why I said short term/long term is really hard to predict.

Uploading credits is literally an investment, not buying product. If a company loses investers, they lose the company.

One has to be careful to assume that a business:

A. Is always right when they make a decision, most businesses of totem's size eventually fail.
B. Should prioritize short term profits over long term, which can be extremely difficult to predict

The only danger I can see with the SE/Gambling is the tendency we see in all entertainment for providers to redirect investment into "schemes" vs. providing the original service. As long as totem continues to improve the product, invest into high quality customer service, the best models available, and the best technology then the side-piece will be beneficial. If they see easy money, fall back on their current catalog and stop innovating and developing, the product will die as it loses card buyers.

I don't deny it makes them money. I think that's exactly what it does. I think less people would buy the calendar and less people would gamble without the SECs. But it's because they want the SECs, not the gambling or the calendar. Or by the same reasoning, we'd see calendars and gambling without the SECs. That's how the profit motive works.
