@Socialhazard interesting..FG646, 650 & FG654 have been set with longer 3D camera distances
to keep the screen rendered size smaller . Doing that works well enough on my meagre 2GB rig
to avoid the worst 3K model frame rate drop downs.
You can see the different camera pos z axis settings I settled on, in the .scn codes for each of these...

increasing the camera pos z axis further will give you a larger black scene border however that
should ameliorate the model stutter in such scenes on your rig until it is no longer a problem
How much on board RAM did you say your GPU card has ?
