When it comes to random boxes, I prefer the ones that let me see which cards I got before deciding if I want to buy or not. If I'm going completely blind I prefer not to spend my credits at all :P

For what its worth.
I have 3770 cards in my collection about 30 have Not been Downloaded.

there are 19812 .demo files that total 103,817,823,782 bytes
or approximately 97 gibibytes, or 103 gigabytes

So even using the nice round number of 2000000000
for the value of that registry

You will never exceed that limit.

The whole Idea is to set a Limit that won't be exceeded,
so you can keep all of the .demo clips.

The real intended function though, is for a member who is concerned abut how much space the .demos are taking up.
Lots of members have submitted complaints over that issue.

So by default, the limit is set to 2 GB.

when the Size of the .demos exceeded the set limit.
they are deleted.
( i'm not sure if it's the next time you start iStripper, or the next day or when specifically, but the demo files that exceed the set limit are removed. )

Actually I should have simply entered 2000000000 since Hard Disks are sized in TeraBytes not TebiBytes.

The advertised Size of a HD is in Terabytes, orders of 1000 bytes, but the Data is stored in TebiByte or orders of 1024 bytes.
So you do need to use 219902325552 for 2TB of data.


Also I did a local Test.
with the registry value maxUserDefinedPreviewsBuffer removed from my resgistry

The Next time I started iStripper, my Demos started to be deleted.

So I believe you do need to have that key to prevent the demos from disappearing.

You get the demo's upon download,
but the next time or next day you start up iStripper, if you have exceeded the demo size limit
they are removed.

So I recommend for anyone who wants to Keep all of the demos

add the Registry value, or for a Mac add it to the preference file.

What, if anything, would those of you who do not like any randomly selected cards in the Friday special offers prefer instead? Without this aspect the special offers are pretty much equivalent to a permanent price reduction - they would reduce to "buy your favourite cards cheaply", which we would all like but which is hardly practical from a business point of view. Totem, much to their credit, do occassionaly make some offers of that kind, but it can never be the norm unless they are overcharging outside of the offers.

...And it doesn't work. Awesome.

Well I went for the 'deal' and got 5 dancers about 5-7 months old at full price and for my bonus ... I got a rock ( apologies to ***** Brown.) Actually the rock was card 11 and card 12 from the first generation of Virtuagirls ; you know, the ones that look like holograms of Princess Leia in the first Star Wars movie.

I just got Diana Doll, "Pink Mansion", she was 34 when she did it, a real MILF. Very Hot Card, get a preview and she if she's your cup of tea.

Improving profits one gambling ***** at a time. So is the % chance to get free cards based on a 5 sided dice? So if I spent 375 credits I should expect to 15 free cards?
That would mean Im only paying for 10 cards...and basically only spending 150 credits for 25 cards? That can't right. So my guess is there is a very low chance to get all cards for free ,like 3-5% instead of 20%...anybody know how this gambling thing works? Oh, well if totem can get hotter girls because people gamble away their credits...it works for me.

It's a flaw in the program. Totem did not intend to delete demo clips automatically.

Thanks for that! Yeah, I missed that. I think I read the thread, but not all the way to the end.

The response was, then: "If you bought a card with a rating above 4.66, your next card pushed in previews will have a rating just below."
But that does not happen either, I bought cards with 4.3X, but it still went up to the top of the pile again.

Anyways, they also said they are not satisfied with it and will look into it. Let's see what happens. In the meantime, I'll just have to deal with those cards with the high ratings...;-)

I am just wondering whether anyone else is experiencing this: In the previews, I regularly get a selection of the top rated cards left in the store, which in my case starts with 4.50 and then it moves down to cards in the 4.30 range (roughly), and afterwards starts at the top again.

It might be connected to the update to the 4.80 version, and I remember, when I started using the new preview push system, that I got many lower rated cards, too (and there are some real gems among them, I would not have discovered, and bought, otherwise).

I can see the appeal that you regularly get cards offered with the highest "value" determined by the ratings, but
a) if I pass on a card once or twice or three times, chances are high I will pass on them again (even if highly rated), and
b) for me at least, the highest rated cards still left to purchase are to a very high degree istripperxxx cards, so that I get their previews pushed often (and often exactly those are discounted) which makes the previews even more similar (apart from the high degree of repetition) and me less likely to purchase shows that are pushed via the previews (and discounted).

I hope I put that clearly. It is also not meant to be a complaint, just wondering if other people are experiencing this, too (highest rated cards pushed repeatedly, many cards lower rated, below 4.30. never pushed), and if they have noticed a change in this, too. And I guess I am wondering whether this is actually the best model for Totem to have people buy more cards from the previews pushed (or if it is just me who finds this system not so helpful...).

I ***** to add to the distaste for random cards. Unlike some of the other members I only have 206 cards... so there is plenty of room in my collection. However, after buying two packs and only receiving 3 cards of any value to me this does not seem to be a good deal at all. I am actually much better off waiting for cards to hit the preview with a 12% discount. As it is I spent 175 credits for three cards after two lucky pack purchases. At 58.33 credits per card, I am better off paying full price.

Thanks guys, I love the site and love to support... but never ever ever again will I buy into a random pack scheme.

Actually, I did do as you suggest. I used VBA to count *.demp, *_it*.demo, *.vghd, *_it*.vghd in the Models card directory and derived the clip count by adding *.demo count to *.vghd count then subracting the counts of the transition files.
However, this only works for cards actually in my collection. I was hoping that between the .xml file and models.lst file I might get the clip count for cards not in my collection. It seems that the web site is the only source for that.

The models.lst file is no help. It merely counts all the .vghd files - no distinction that I can see for the transition files. It is pretty much the same for the card.xml file.

Incidently, the web site clip count is not correct. It counts preview files and these are deleted a day or so after a card is downloaded. So the website says Katya Clover, e0221, is 20 clips. It is - for a short time. Then it reverts to 17 clips. I have asked Totem to comment on this the the Bugs & Fixes Section. It may be a feature, not a bug.

I had previously experienced the "deleted demo issue"
In fact it kept happening, even after I restored the demos I had on a back up
and the others I had re-downloaded.
Only to find that they had again gone missing.

It could be coincidental, but adding the registry values, ( and possibly an updated software version )
resolved my issue.

Reading Rex's post, that the default limit is set to 2GB, made me think, the increased registry limit might be part of the issue with cards not downloading the demos.
that is why I suggested adding the value with an increased limit.
