Perhaps it would be a good idea to give users option to "mark" certain cards before they are bought.
And I not just mean bookmarking/ favorites.

I find myself still quite often downloading demo just to realize, that I did it in the past just to remove it moments later - for that it would be great to be able to mark cards as "I don't think I will ever buy it". Ignoring these cards in carousel draw would be a nice extra addition. I have it both for certain models, but also for single cards of model that I generally like.

I'm already using previews often as "favoritess": I often keep lots of them as "TBD" - I like the card, but I'm not sure yet if/when I will buy it.
If there would be an option to mark it as "favorite" w/o keeping downloaded preview forever...

I'm using playlist for that, but managing them is not as easy as "mark as favorite", "mark as unwanted" on the card itself (similar to "No nudity preview/Start preview" and "Get full nude show" that we see now on cards that we haven't bought). If that would be implemented I would be OK wih previews disappearing from my disk and I do understand the reason for it.

And last but certainly not least: thank you for listenining to the feedback about X - I can't wait to be able to enable it back. I get it with the new users, but not sure if annoying old users is such a great idea for your business model...? They can be good advocates of the product, and very often buy new cards on-the-spot. I find this change as super-annoying and even though it's consider a feature, to me that is one big bug. Having an option in the menu to enable X (with natural, expected behaviour) works for me.

Therefore I would propose an idea for a new feature: that the loyal members who still wish and need the right to store unlimited demos could get it, paying some amount of credits. I would do that - and I think I would be willing to pay even, let's say, 300 credits for a feature like this one.

In case you are not aware:
When you Purchase a card, you get to keep the previews from that card. they are not removed after you make the Purchase.

Will a new version for Mac be out soon, which similarly removes auto-download of previews?

@Rex: Thanks for explaining the reasons for hiding Previews in this version. It's not ideal, but it makes sense in context.
You mention that you're looking at limiting the number of Previews that can be kept at any one time, or limiting the amount of time for which any one Preview can be kept. Will they return to the Collection view once such limitations are in place? It's far easier to manage Shows and Previews when they're all in the same place.

The idea of time limits and/or caps on the number of Previews that can be held fits with the idea of Previews as being the 'try before you buy', and pushes the user to make their mind up whether they actually want to see that show. In that case, would it be possible to have a 'wishlist' option? That would help two types of users buy more shows: those short of spare time could create a follow-up list without 'starting the clock' on the Preview, and those short of credits when they see the Preview could keep a reminder until they can buy more. Even if the wishlist was only available for higher-tier users who have (hopefully!) already demonstrated that they're not freeloaders, I'm sure it would help sales in the long term.

I must still be missing a trick of how to view Previews once downloaded, besides searching through the 80 or so Previews in the Store for the one that caught my eye in the Carousel. It seems to defeat the point of having Previews if the user can't easily find and view them.

@Rex, its about the production philosophy: I refer to Estonika's last card - Uninhibited.
You mentioned aspects that affect the bottom line, and production was one of them.. Naked to some of us means expecting to see a truely fully naked female body. We know you guys bought a lot of shoes for wardrobe department some time ago and especially with taskbar shootings, some of us now feel that the girls are wearing these shoes throughout (ie: in all clips) just to please the management. We should be able to anticipate at least one barefoot taskbar clip and hence a truely naked clip in every performance at some stage. It would help sell a great many more cards & don't want just be buying one in every 5 cards. Please consider.

@lukaszr Those guys ***** about previews in My Collection should have tried harder before *****. There was a checkbox "Previews only" in collection filter in the left pane, it was there for a long time. It was under "Content type" which contained two checkboxes, "Full" and "Previews only". When only "Full" is checked, only full cards were showed. There was no reason for ***** at all. The "Previews only" should have been unchecked by default so no one would have ***** about it.

@v24257546 As a paying member, you'l still be able to watch as many previews as you want but we'll limit how many of them you can have at the same time (about a dozen at once seems about right) and how long you can enjoy them before they go. We want paying customers to be able to preview any girl they consider buying, we don't want people abusing the system and spending all their time only watching free stuff. We need to sell shows to be able to produce them.

I was thinking about something else... If it wouldn't be taking away the surprise factor, why couldn't there be an "Upcoming" tab made on the Featured screen for the upcoming 5 cards showing the card and the date it will be released?

Earlier I couldn't wait every mondays, wednesdays and fridays. At these days there was always some surprise awaiting. Now EVERY ONE f*****g day in a week will be AWESOME! I'm more than happy :)

I just wrote a post about previews on Bug and Fixes. I ask: would it be possible the previews to be limited only for the free users and remain unlimited for upper level members, that proved, with the big collections they own, to loyally use them just to choose which cards to buy? For me, the unlimited previews are very useful, and one of most important features of Istripper. Thanks.

@lukaszr Too many new users were abusing the unlimited free preview downloads and were... only collecting free previews.
As I mentioned in another post, we excluded the free previews from my collection and plan to limit the number of simultaneous free previews and/or their duration in the near future.

Show an X button in GUI option in advanced settings seems to be the agreement with the best work / effect ratio.

We're close to release another beta with a revamped girl's page / console featuring new visual showing (tastefull) nudity.

Next on our list is the revamp of the store look and its filters, the behaviour of the carrousel / free previews and the access to basic functions from mobile phones.

It might not go as fast as we wish, but keep in mind that in the meantime we have to maintain servers, banks and billing issues, accounting, customer service, affiliation program, advertising material and not to mention casting, production and post-production. Girls washing glasses and windows is the new big thing at the studio now, expect that to hit your own screen hard in the coming weeks.

I think it's a good release plan. I have an idea: there could be a little discount on the new cards, just for their day of release; I think that it would make good sells.

That's funny. When previews were visible in "my collection" some guys ***** about it and sayed "I don't want them in my collection!". Now, when previews are removed from collection some other guys are complainig and says "I want them in my collection!". Let's vote :D

Am I just being blind? I can see the filter in the Store to show only Previews, but that shows all previews without any way (that I can see) to tell whether they're currently downloaded.
Having the Previews visible in the Collection was very useful, as it let me effectively bookmark interesting shows for when I have enough time to consider them. I can appreciate the thinking in removing them, to avoid clutter, but surely it would have been better implemented by a filter in the Collection?

iStripper forum issues:
Post hyperlinks: Link & report do not work and quote quotes the entire text of a post, not the part you have selected.
Certain actions such as going to a members profile can freeze to grey the Forum page. It is unfrozen upon rebooting iStripper.

Is "throughout the week" Monday through Friday?

From now on, we will release one new show per day in order to keep a continuous flow of new content throughout the week.

Even if we increase the number of new shows per week again, we will maintain this smooth rhythm anyway :)

@Rex While making small changes, I would vote for the return of the "Content Type" in the collection filters, but with "Previews" checkbox desactivated by default, so everybody would be happy. Unless there's a real marketing reason, I don't see why we can't have a possibility of having previews in our collection page when we want to.

It's what I've been saying for ages, "minimise and close currently serve the same function."
Having the minimise button only is an excellent idea. Close only if you activate it in advanced... and make it serve it's purpose, to close the program and keep it running. There should also be a quit option under the cog icon that links to the 'boss' hot key setup... completely close the application and stop the program running... shift+Q is a nice setup for a default 'boss' key setup...

Also to further increase the quality I have found that overclocking your monitor or buying a higher refresh monitor helps also.

First of all, the X in the upper right corner of a window does not mean to close the program in MS Windows. By definition of Windows, the X has the function of closing the Window (GUI), not the program. But in most cases it functionally does both because that is the intended behavior and there is only one window corresponding to the program. Excel for example can have two or more spreadsheets open and if you close one window with the X, the other spreadsheets stays open and the Excel program stays running. There's only one incidence of the program running no matter how many spreadsheets you have open unless you explicitly tell it otherwise. There are other cases where a program runs and it has multiple windows open for the same program/application and if you close one window with the X, it only closes that window and not the program. Then it would be best to maybe eliminate the X button by default unless you select the option to "Minimize to System Tray" in which case the X button would appear.

But I have to agree with Carbo that I like his idea the best of having the option in Advanced Settings to "Minimize to System Tray" (or as Rex said, "Show an X button in GUI") for those who want that behavior and understand it. It would not be the default so that new users would always see the taskbar icon. You could then eliminate the X button by default except when you select the option to "Minimize to System Tray" (or "Show an X button in GUI") in which case the X button would appear. This is essentially what Rex is saying and what Carbo (and us) wants.

I don't like bumping my own posts, but its been almost a week, and nobody has any idea about this? If the two are linked, I'd rather not have to start a second account. If they're not, then I can go ahead and start my Live account. I'm just wanting to know if Live is connected to iStripper accounts or separate?

@Rex Isn't it simpler to add the checkbox "Minimize to Sytem tray" and only change the "X" behavior, so new users wouldn't be troubled by not seeing the "X' button, and everyone would be happy with that. Both solutions are easy to implement in a short delay.

@FalconAF Please keep in mind we're staying in business also thanks to new users. If half of them loose the GUI because they closed it with the 'X' it will also affect you.

An easy solution for me would be to have only the _ icon without the X at install, and show the X if advanced settings are checked, or add another checkbox "Show an 'X' in top bar to really really close the GUY'.

I'll see if I can sneak it in the next beta to be released next week.

@Wyldanimal Removing the "X" won't solve anything because it will always minimize in the taskbar, and "Quit" in the system tray icon menu is for terminating the program, unless they implement the "hide/unhide" by clicking the system tray icon. Adding another icon in SFW for this purpose is misleading, the purpose of SFW is stealth at work.

The simplest and the more logical way, is to add a checkbox in settings called "Minimize to System tray", as we often see in program settings for many applications running in background. When this option is checked, clicking the "X" would minimize the UI in the system tray as before. For new users and users who like it the way it is now, it would be the default setting (setting unchecked).

My Last Comment is for @Team Totem...
this is from reading @Carbo's talk about why he doesn't like the SFW option - It changes the Icons and Product Name...

If you Add one More SFW icon ( the Same iStripper icon, but the "X" works to Close the GUI )
then I think it solves all the Issues..
Add a SFW choice that Keeps the Same Icon and Same product Name, and the "X" closes the GUI properly.

I do Agree that the Small Systray Icon, should perform both tasks.
right click and open the gui, and also right click and close the gui.
or even just Double click to open the Gui, and then Double click to close the gui.

That would be a nice feature to have on the systray Icon.

But that still doesn't solve Totems Issue of New Users, who don't even know their is a systray icon.

You are all missing the Issue here.
if the Systray Icon Never shows up for a 1st time user, they Don't even know one Exists..
All they have is the GUI...

Now they Click on the "X" the GUI closes,

BUT it is running in the background, they Just Don't know it..

some time later
They Click on the iStripper Desktop Icon to Start it again, And Nothing Happens..
Click, Nothing, Click Nothing, Click Nothing...

That is the Issue that Customer Service was being ***** with....

Honestly, not all of the members here are the sharpest tools all the time..
they don't pay too much attention to how the OS is supposed to work..
they just want nude images on their computer, and don't care to know how it does it, just that it does...

ask them to click on the systray icon, and they go
"Whah??? My Sister whah???"
by the clock, the Little Images by the Clock....
"Ummm, my clock is on a blank wall, I don't have no images by my clock"
No, On your Desktop there is a clock, and by the clock are tiny images called icons..
"You must be looking at the wrong house, I don't have no clock on my desk, it's on my wall and there are no darn picters by my clock"

yes I've had these types of conversations, too many times....

So to Resolve it....
the "X" doesn't close the Taskbar Icon. So you can See that it is still running.

Maybe Totem Should just take away the "X" on the GUI
that would solve all the complaints.

iStripper is Closed by using the system Tray Icon and Quitting anyway.
The "X" never did really Close it.

So if Totem takes away the "X" then that solves it..

@VirtualPad The Stealth theme was already in previous versions, I've never had the idea of using it because it was meant to change the appearence of the system tray icon for work environment. In my case I didn't want to change the icon, that's why I never tried to tweak with this function to solve a problem with a taskbar icon. I tried it on both version and it works the same, but still the icon is not the iStripper's icon.

For those who are all happy about previews being remove from the collection page, there was always a checkbox named Previews in the filters just waiting to be unchecked so you could enjoy not seeing them in your collection. And the Girls Store has always been there for previews.

@FalconAF Your argumentation is flawless, that says it all. The "X" and "_" buttons really does the same thing in every way. Well done !!
