Anyone who cares to explain to an old man what is this Discord?
What does it do?
Why (should I) use it instead of the forum?
@rabbitman
Discord is a social media thingy for gamers. You can send each other instant messages. You can share pictures, videos and livestream whatever game you are playing on your screen to other users. It has a Zoom-like video conferencing facility. It's completely free and doesn't seem to have any ads, so a cynic might imagine they are harvesting users' personal details and flogging them to Dark *****
Gamers were the first target of Discord, but currently it's not only for gamers, a lot of communities have their own Discord server. Basically, difference between forum and Discord, is that Discord is Instant Message platform, where users talk "now". It's like shoutbox/IRC, but with mutliple channels, so on one channel people talk for example about Formula 1, and on different channel why one model is prettier than different. I am administrator on some Discord servers, so I know what I'm talking about ;]
So why should you use it for iStripper? I had no idea, so I went there and had a look. Still no idea. I suppose that it extends the forum chatter into something more dynamic, if you're into that kind of thing, but I didn't find anything interesting there that isn't here.
Basically you're right, forum is more static way of communication, you can look through old topics, even from 2010. In Discord you just go and talk instantly with users. Also, if you want, you can talk with them on Voice Channels.
