I just want to give the team my thoughts about this new version issue.

I'm more or less in the same situation like WA.
But lucky me it wasn't necessary to find me a download solution.

I had an older backup and with a little folder synchronisation I got most of
my purchased clips back. For those I've lost I maybe will do a re-download
of the complete cards or if offered from the demo sometimes. I also have no download-limits.

But first I will wait what Totem will do to solve this issue so I went back to an older version for the moment.

From my point of view the team made the mistake not only in programming, they made it
when they decided the way how to do this.

1) It's absolutely clear that they want to limit the amount of previews for non-paying users.
I completely agree with that. It's a business decision. Maybe a not so good one to do this for all members.
They could use the member level to distinguish carefully.

2) for the purchased clips:

If some members are ***** about their disk space you can do a lot without annoying anyone.

You could inform the user within the software and on the website about the file-size for shows before downloading.
This would help them to realize how much space they will need.

and acting like a professional software and

provide a button on the card to delete the demos card by card if you want to.

or/and provide a button in the settings to delete multiple or all demos if you want to.

or right mouse-click options ....

....

(don't forget the possibility to offer a re-download only for the demos)

But always with prompting the user to decide it by themselves.

You never have to decide to delete anything from my harddisk without my permission!

if you dont have the resources to do so you could maybe
teach them how to use their windows explorer - do a little .demo search through the models folder to delete
them on their own or provide them offers for cheap external harddrives, whatever...

but again - never delete anything from all user-harddisks without permission! That's the annoying point.
only viruses acting like this. A trusted software always ask!

I will not install any further version without asking me before deleting something...

I didn't checked my network traffice while using the new version so I can't help here.

The problem of card download looping comes from the presence of a custom card in that same folder. Removing this custom card while it is looping, stop the looping and displays the original card in the software. So by removing all custom cards or marking cards readonly, solves temporarily the problem.

Continued getting the bumps out of animated gifs on fullscreen,
I've made some headway getting these to work in a linear way without needing to rely on
pingpong repeat mode for the smooth movement on fullscreen. ..hope da code is helpful :-)

The first time it tries to re-download a card, it replaces the card, so read only attribute must be set after it is replaced. After restarting the program, this process start again. But the read only attribute seems to work for demo files though, but need more tests on this.

I thought my post was pretty specific to just the card images.

Yes, you could mark all the DEMO clips as read only, but I think that would not work to prevent them from being deleted though..

You can't mark the VGHD files read only, as it will error out before it downloads the .Demo clips.
The .Demo clips are the LAST clip type it downloads, so It Must download, without error
all of the VGHD clips first.

I've got my own Method for Downloading JUST the Demo Clips.
using my own software. I can't share it, as I've not got permission from the Team to do so.
And since it's Downloading and Using their Servers Bandwidth.
I won't share it unless I had Permission to do so.

I feel justified using it myself, as I have the rights to download and use the files.
But my rights to my collection, don't pass on to other members.

I can explain how I do it, and if you are skilled enough, maybe you too can do the same.

I had an archive copy of the model.lst file
which contains a list of every clip name that is in my collection.
I extracted the file name of all of the .demo clips

Using my list of clips,
I wrote a short program to create the URL to download a demo clip,
And write this out to a HTML web page.
So I now have a web page with Links to All of my Demo clips.

I can find and clip I want, and Download it. ( sample of webpage attached )
this can be repeated for as many clips from the list as needed.

It would be only a simple modification, to download the list, rather than make a webpage of links.

But I like the webpage, as I can choose which ones I want.

Now that I know I've also lost all of my _IT demo clips.
I may modify my program to automatically re-download my missing _IT clips

When I download this file, Norton automatically deletes it :( ???

The card will probably be slightly more expensive than Christmas surprise but I do not care I want them all right now

that confirms it is NOT a P2P bug. but something is causing a steady redownload of the card images.
It only starts, after you go to My Collection, and when you hover your mouse on a card image, that seems to trigger it.
often times your mouse is just setting in the card image area, so just switching to the my Collection view, might trigger it.

I have found by using the Resource monitor, just like your Picture shows.
checking DISK activity, and then selecting Just VGHD.EXE
i can See what card image it is...

If I open that Data folder, and right click on the card image, I can set it as read only.

That will cause the VGHD.LOG to record an Error in the LOG,
but it also Stops it from re Downloading that card Image, and it moves on to the next one.

After marking a bunch of the card images as read only, I did get it to eventually stop.
So I'm probably going to write a script, to mark all my card images as Read only.

I don't car about the bandwidth, I have an unlimited plan...
but I don't like the constant writes to my hard drive.

Marking all the cards as read only, will cause it to record an error in the VGHD.LOG, if it tries.

So I've been noticing this, but why do so many cards have the hottness level of "xxx"? It made sense when the IstripperXXX had such a level and even some of the regular stripping cards just have the level of "full nudity" both of which makes sense. Why would cards that are essentially normal stripping cards be given a level of "xxx". Any ideas?

I don't know whats going on with this version. It is uploading/downloading something again at 110-113,000 bits per second total by my resource monitor for vghd. My collection seams to be all intacked clips/demo/card images. In the other version it deleted some of my custom_jpg images when I first installed it like you say. I'm just going back to the other version...WoW. And your are STILL the MAN...LOL

EDIT: I Just noticed your pm I'm looking at it now.

EDIT 2: You are correct it is a constant loop image download bug. Appears to be a random card each time I launch the software. I didn't think to look at the disc data. Look at this mess LOL.

What are you talking about, I love the costumes, its the iStripper selling point :) anyways I would actually love iStripper XXX girls not to go whole nude on shows but let the stockings/gloves/masks/garter belts/etc stay on them, also there is very few pantyless upskirt action on both iStripper and iStripper XXX unfortunately :(

I took some time to really watch the last Alexa card Blistering Hot. I really like how the clips are almost all over 3 min pushing over 4 on some, this is a great direction the xxx cards have had. The longer the production can make the clips the better, you don't lose the atmosphere of the models performance.

There are three scenes roughly 11 min average per show. As much as I like seeing Alexa undress three times, it feels like we get redundant especially if you are watching the full card. There are things Totem has done in other cards like have a standing scene, non toy scene and a toy scene, which is a nice balance. The standing clips give the card a chance to showcase the outfit that are so hastily discarded in the shorter scenes.

Looking at the running times of the cards roughly 35 - 40+ minutes. It would be nice if Totem could play with the format a little, like I said earlier especially if the model is shooting 3 xxx cards. Have a show with two scenes, one with toy and one without, that are longer, pushing the 15 - 18 min mark. People love garment play and teasing, this affords a little more time to that and more time for working up to the climax point, for more of a robust scene.

I like the xxx shows, but I can understand people getting bored of them especially if it is the same model two weeks in a row. And then the exact same format.

All in all don't mind me, just trying to be constructive in potential xxx card show development, I don't want to see the xxx line die.

I had a similar issue with it, redownloading the card images, in what seemed to be an endless loop..
so the Intenet activity you were having, might not have been P2P related?

only a few of my exxxx series cards have the IT .demo clips in them
most of the rest are all deleted...

As a rough calculation, the new protocol for a 2GB limit equals around 60 x 3K card demos stored on your hard drive. Let's see how this now plays out...

I just reinstalled .142 and p2p off seams to work now. I don't know why it wasn't before. I'll keep checking my network resources to be sure.

These did not get deleted.
the .DEMO IT clips are the Non-Nude versions of the .VGHD IT clips.
Example:
_IT05 are the Hanging clips you see when you ***** a model around
the .demo is non-Nude
and the .vghd is Nude

I play online games some and I don't want more load added to my network when doing so plus band width fees that can come with it. I do know that turning of P2P is not Immediate.
I will continue to run in the background even after iStripper has been Quit, till it finishes up what was left in it's Que.
Then it terminates the process.

The negative feedback was that many buy the card before noticing the price increase, and Totem didn't talk about it before releasing it.

If the card have great value, we will buy it.
But you need to choose a girl that perform well, and probably a girl without too much card already.
If you release one or two XXX show a month, we will buy them.

@Dorsai: ALL transition clips are unique. The demo 'it' clips have also disappeared from my cards. Anything marked as '.demo' vanished except for 2 old cards in my case.

I agree, to 'fix' this error, a global download would be preferable to doing it one by one. I don't really care if the fix is a, 'right click' menu option as long as we're told where it is. However, I agree that checking for updates is a bad place to put a right click option on a trash can! Since iStripper started, it usually involves downloading the whole card. Not always but most of the time it does :(

A separate drop-down of "Card Management" functions would be more appropriate.

You could make a Crowdfunding, Yes! Totem briefly introduces the ladies and pretending to a financing plan to produce the show, and of course a gain to achieve!
Each Member that would like to have the card pays a set amount of money!
The map can be produced, gets every Member which has paid the card immediately, then the card is still in the regular sale! Funding would not reach the Member get back the money in the form of credits! So, you could again produce duo cards for IStripper and IStripperXXX!

I took some time to check through Alexa Tomas' latest triple x ~Little Miss Fit
where half the clips are designated xxx and happy to see on average they are of longer duration.
If Totem are paying a higher rate per xxx clip
then it follows that cards devoted to all xxx clips would be unsustainable at current prices.
I agree with @jefe2643 & @KatzPaw.

..users would be more inclined to dedicate time to watch a few long scenes rather then A few shorter scenes, give more time to set the mood

imho there is nothing more distracting than a model interupting her good edging to orgasm ~ by some prescribed need from the studio for her to vary poses all the time in a clip, or to have her 'rising to a climax' session cut short to suit other clips.

I'm not sure but I think a number of the transition clips are marked as demos. I don't know it these clips are unique or not. Many of these are the "pick me" clips.

I'd also like to have Totem add a function to re-download the demos, but I'd like to be able to do it globally, not one card at a time.

Also, I don't like hiding functions under an icon and requiring a right-click to even know they are there. Worse yet, I don't like adding unrelated functions like check for updates or re-download to a delete icon. This is not a video game where part of the fun is discovering hidden capabilities. This is a working application where all the capabilities should be apparent. A separate drop-down of "Card Management" functions would be more appropriate.

the .Demos are not required to use the Full Cards.
in fact Many of the .Demos were just Shortened version of one of the Full Clips anyway..
But, there are some cards, where the .Demo files were Unique clips all of their own.

While I will miss not having them... It's not causing any usability issues.

I may not even waste the bandwidth of re-downloading..
If the Team provides a Right click menu option to Download the Demo's Only, Then I may do that.

In the GUI there are two Right Click menus related to the Trash Can
One is for a Single card selection, and the Other is for a multiple Card Selection.

I suggest that the Team add a DownLoad Demos option to this menu.

I have a question

I've noticed that there are usually several more cards that are on sale during the Thank God Its Friday sales than are actually shown in the carousel (for example, the carousel shows eleven girls, but I count nineteen girls on sale, not counting the few I already have). Is there some way you guys can post a forum post with a list of which cards (all of them) that are on sale, or make a filter or something of that nature? Just some way that we don't miss out on a great deal that we don't know about?

I'm aware that I can go through the Girls Store and find the ones by visually looking through a couple thousand cards for the ones on sale, but that's a bit tedious. If you'd think about this, it'd be greatly appreciated, by most of us, I'm sure. Thank you
