The customer service gave this advice about 3 times in a row and did not work. I open about 30 requests just to quicken it up and eventually after 3 days they came up with a Beta version of vghd. Downloaded... same stupid message: Your collection is empty. Updating rights failed. I have a funny feeling, that this is either a win7 issue or copyright issue. Both for them to sort out. Of course if you have any ideas of what could stop updating rights, your more than welcome to share it:) And thanks for the tip anyway.

@cybervixen. Ty for the info on not deleting the demo.lst file. I did try it the once but immediately realised it was giving me back the same cards anyway. So that file is only for convenience in driving the carousel and which cards are in it is determined by some other means; either by data on the server or in the models.lst file. I know the latter can be rebuilt if it goes missing by resyncing with data on the server, but I'm not about to deliberately delete it just to find out if it rebuilds it with the same demo card info as well as purchased cards.

I did decide to spend a few credits on cards that weren't in my wishlist but were in the current carousel and I didn't mind too much having purchased. Obviously when you buy a card from the carousel it replaces it with another one and I had hoped that as I was spending credits instead of rejecting cards it would be more likely, or even guaranteed, to bring up one I hadn't had before. No such luck. There are still more in the list of cards it wants to keep showing me than are slots on teh carousel.

So it looks like I will have to wait for them to drop off one at a time by natural rotation rather than ***** them off or buying cards currently on the carousel. Shame really, these credits are ***** a hole in my pocket and there are cards I want to purchase. If it takes too long for new cards to come up there's a danger I'll get bored waiting and not be an ongoing customer. I'll not be buying credits until this lot run out and if things continue the way they have been it'll be ages before I spend another credit that I already have.

@wdawg. If you don't have your models files on your computer any more, is make sure you have v number and password written down.

Then do a complete uninstall of vg and db if you have that. Make sure you are connected to the internet.

Now do what you have to do to connect your external drive.

Then redownload Vg but selecting the path for your external drive and then entering your v number and password when asked if you want a new account or have an existing account.

no 1 sees fit to help me, i guess i asked to politely. At least someone could of shared a link to another post if there is one that addresses this issue. sheeeshhh

and what does "Activate" do in the settings? If i press on it's "?" help button it doesn't tell me anything.

I check the box and nothing happens, even if i set my display to No screensaver.
The only way i even see it is if i hit the preview button, but then I have no control over the show and it reverts as soon as i hit any key or move the mouse
