In trying to learn more about the decreasing quality of cards, I found this thread, which is a few months older than the one I started. It seems that the quality has actually gotten worse since the last post in this thread (not sure when the cards were actually filmed vs. released).
For me any dips in quality from show 1200 till 1394 (I haven't noticed that big of a difference certainly not enough for me to want to delete them), that dip in quality is far less noticeable than the dip in quality in shows 1395 through the present. Some of the shows in the 1400s are barely better than the shows before 650.
I've deleted everything from my collection from 1395 Charlotta - Mayan Riviera through 1454 Vanda Lust - Cannes. For now, I'm keeping 1455 Cayenne Klein - Tempting Tartan through the present because there seems to be a increase in quality, but it's still noticeably under the standard that was set from 650 through 1394, particularly the first half of that range.
To me, I find it hard to believe that this is simply due to just a softening filter. It's not just an issue with sharpness. In the 1400s, some of the close up shots are physically smaller (particularly the cards for Katy Angel and Melody Powers).
Reading the responses, I'm having a hard time figuring out if there's a recognition on Totem's part that show quality is dropping. To me, it seems like there's enough anecdotal evidence that it is between this thread and the one that I started. In his response, Rex says that there was a drop in quality but that since has been fixed. His answer seems to infer that there should be no drop in quality in the shows that have been filmed in 1080, but pretty much all of the shows that have the biggest drop in quality (as far as I can tell) are 1080 shows. Is Totem essentially saying that there should be no drop in quality in the 1400s other than Katy Angel, which were acknowledged as having technical problems?
