DIDGEDRUM is correct in that people with red hair are of Irish, Scottish and Welsh descent and most definitely NOT English who have dark or fair hair.

DIDGEDRUM is wrong in his Celts / Britain connection in that the Celtic tribes that inhabited "Britain" at the time of the Roman invasion were originally referred to as "Britons" by the incoming Romans, England was much later.

At the time of Britain first being referred to as such, the Angles, Saxons and Jutes etc. were still in Europe. They followed on much later after the Romans and were a mixture of various European invaders from the countries on the European side of the North Sea, what is now France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.

England is actually the corrupted name "Angle Land".

Most Irish, Scots and Welsh consider themselves to be the nationality that they are first and secondly British. If you ask me what nationality I am, it's Welsh.
