Totem says it is because of economics related to cost to send the girls from long distance to Paris for the shoot. Hmmmm I'm a thinkin' that it is perhaps that the girls do not get much revenue per card sold on their behalf so only girls who are hard up for cash will do shows.

It would be nice to see Totem get girls from New Zealand, the Pacific islands, Indonesia, South America, North America (not US), western Asia, Malaysia, and other places.

I know the poll wasn't serious but if 23% want czech women and 18% want latin american why is 99.9% of the women czech republic and the shoots are in france? You would think most the girls would be from france. 23% is not even a majority. That means 77% of members prefer something other than czechs.

As I said in my opening post- I work in the industry and I know the czech girls are the most economical for adult industry. 9 years ago we could hire a czech or russian for 10% of what an american or canadian would want. As a personal fan of VGHD it sends a clear message that the supply of beautiful Czech women available to Totem is now vulnerable and is his way of encouraging Totem to branch out and look to other sources for women worldwide. His lovely wife, being a proponent of equal opportunity employment for every race and nationality has encouraged her husband to do this to ensure ALL women have a fighting chance for employment with Totem and not just solely the Czechs. A very wise decision on the President's part to ensure diversity and fairness to all women IMHO.

@JonC001, afraid it is nothing to do with currency used. Is because less well off countries are taken advantage of for cheap labour sources by the so called richer developed western counties. Sorry to tell you that USA and Canada are probably the worst offender.

...also... For these girls the amount payed is still a really good salary compared with what they would earn doing almost any other type of work in their native country. My guess is that one days work for Totem probably equals weeks or maybe even a months salary in their home town.

This is why companies in countries like Sweden and Germany outsource all or part of the production to these eastern countries... or to put it in a global perspective... why US companies place their customer support in India or some other developing country. It's all about the money!

Many years ago Private and a few other companies went worldwide and found girls that would work for 10% of what a north american girl would. What would cost 5000 you could get for 500 PLUS the czech girls were a fresh look, and were happy to be making 10X what they were making at home even if it was 10% of what others made. Going from 50 to 500 was a big leap. Besides...if you became big (like claudia rossi) you saw ridiculous money (considering you are making 6 digit money to do nothing more than dance naked, pose naked, or sex). It became a competitve market where a pretty face and hot body was readily avaialble.

Totem went affordable and the most popular girls were popular already. Big bucks in adult won't come from dancing nude only. When totem opens the explicit site we can see some careers take off via that. You don't add virtuagirl on your resume to model or dance but you would add lesbos virtuagirlshd to your resume and website if selling your explicit self

One problem with Russian girls is for Totem to find a legit agent. Then it's still hard and expensive to get a travel visa from Russia... so even if the girls might be cheap the overhead cost would still be huge.

Then I'm not sure it's even legal to be an adult actress in Russia...?

I've suggested this before but, economics & girl availability in mind, why not send Totem OUT to other countries! Send Stanze on Walkabout! I know Totem was ***** with their USA experience. Why can't negotiations be held with models, agents, & people who rent space, (studio, warehouse, etc.)to arrange for babes, site, and green screen availability. They could send movement audition vids via e mail so Totem would have a good idea of appeal & skill before they committed to the girls or the travel. Then Stanze, sexy make-up, & whoever is minimum staff could head for a dedicated shooting schedule with translator of say, a dozen pre selected girls in Rio (nice chance of carnival shaka da bom boms babes!)for a nice collection of exotic babes to "harvest" for Totem's expanding ethnic diversity base)As little as 2 or 3 trips like that a year ( say Brazil, USA, Africa,Japan (or a cheaper Asian location)could do it! 3 dozen Latin, Black,Asian, babes/year would be a good start for diversity! Eh?

I agree about the lack of diversity of girls on vghd, but I think a major part of the problem is that Totem gives far too much precedence to the ratings system. Cards that deviate a bit from the norm often get lower ratings, so Totem mostly stick to a formula that tends to result in higher ratings.

Examples of girls who don't exactly conform to the usual formula are Suzie Q and Shabba. Both are very beautiful girls and superb performers, although they don't have the standard Czech glamour model look and don't stick to the usual performance formula. They are fun to watch and have a great sense of interaction with the viewer, and both have superb grace and agility that few other girls on vghd display. Yet both tend to get misleadingly low ratings.

I'm afraid that while girls with the standard look and formulaic performance style continue to get the highest ratings, and while Totem continue to base content decisions on this, the lack of diversity will continue to be a problem.
