Today saw record sales times for the 3 new cards. Within an hour and half (give or take a few minutes) all 3 new cards had come and gone.
7 million users on virtuagirl and basically 400-500 people got the new cards for 1 ticket.

Was it so terrible to offer specials at different times on hustlergirls and virtuagils so different times zones and more people could enjoy the 1 ticket discount on new cards? And the specials used to come in middle of week too and that was ditched. So we used to have 1200 of each new card, and available from 2 sources and also in middle of week. Now it is camp out or miss out.
Members have to compete to get the 1 ticket discount. Cool if you got the discount and "Sorry you missed it" if you didn't it.

But cheer up. The "new card" smell wears off quickly. Within a week 3 newer cards will be the hype. Don't *****. Do you need it NOW for 2 tickets? It will be on calendar or offered in booster or special again soon enough. Any card you buy is new to you.

I dont like these issues... I live in America and I waited until 3 am for the new card, but were not ready..I woke up at 7 am and they were already sold.. why hustlergirls does not work like before?? with different offer than virtuagirl... that way was easy for us (americans) to buy the latest cards

Totem should care for users all around the world

Melissa's new card sold at around 1 purchase every 4 seconds.
Within 30 minutes it was gone. Poof. The duo was just as fast.

Checking every hour meant missing 2 of the new cards. If you are in a time zone where you are ***** or at work you miss out anyways. Now people that are home waiting for the specials missed cards too.
14 sold per minute will soon be 30 sold per minute. By next month most new cards will sell out in 15 minutes.
Then Totem will see it as a problem when the die-hard campers also miss out on the new cards.

Totem will need to see it as a problem much sooner.

Today we had ~ 800 card in 1 hour. Which was apparently too much for the servers since around 15:15 - 15:20 they gave up or some sort of preventive meassure kicked in and the website semmed to have been down until around 16:00-16:15

Which means that Totem will have to deal with this popularity problem way sooner than these 30 tix/min.

(Btw: both cards 585 and 609 sold with speeds exceeding 30 tix/min at the beginning of their respective specials)

normally i would be willing to wait but not with a card of my favorite girl Ariel. And the other 2 cards are also must-have in my eyes so well i invested 6 tickets today. But i also agree that they need to change that system if it now only take 90 mins to sell all 3 cards.
And with changing the specials on hustlergirls so that we can't hope to get the cards there a change in that system is more necessary than ever.

What makes a new card better than a card that is 1 week old, 1 month old or 6 months old? It is a new release so I gotta have it now.

Even if I have 300 or 400 girls in my collection and never even see all my favorites cards in a given week I must have the new card at 2 tickets. I must have it now. Great marketing to make virtuacards something people must have immediately and can't wait for.
What about the cards paid 2 tickets for last month? Old now

Reality--card you purchase that you didn't have is new.
If I get the new melissa card next month for 1 ticket it is still new for me plus I have an additional ticket to buy another card I do not own. 4 tickets = 4 cards not 2 cards that I buy on release day then 2 weeks later are lost in the playlist.
The "value" is if you want to pay additional 1 ticket ($1 to $2)to see the card NOW. The 3 new cards replaced last weeks cards as fresh and new. Next week will replace this week. Impatience marketing.
And make us fight for the 400 on sale.

@slayer: Right in theory. But for some things you don't want to wait. I also went to the cinema on the first day when 'Lord of the Rings' was played. Of course i could have waited a month but i wanted to see this movie as soon as possible. The same is true for some shows here. If you are a fan of one girl you want to have the new shows of this girl immediatly. Especially if you already have all other shows of that girl.
Thats the reason i paid 2 tickets for the new shows of this week. I would say that this is normal for human beings. Of course there are those that can be patient. But i'm not one of those. I must have things i like to have as soon as i can have them.

Don't think we will see much change in the way Totem puts out the specials on the 3 new cards a week. Totem is in this for a business and the 400 one ticket specials is just a loss leader or sale price like at the grocery store. It gets people into the shop and get some good comments on them and this advertises them to others to purchase. But the whole idea is to sell cards for 2 tickets each not 1. So don't hold your breath for too many bargains, if you want em buy em.

btw.....
Nothing wrong with wanting a card NOW for 2 tickets.
I purchased a pre-release of a video game for $60 at a convention and sold it for $200 on ebay with 20 people bidding. The game released in stores in 1 month. People could not wait 1 month to own the vdeo game at $60 so they paid $200 to have it NOW.

If a new release is of a favorite girl and you want her now then by all means purchase the card. No need to justify it by saying it was worth it since the cards are all "worth 1 ticket.

A new person joining today sees all cards as new.
In the end the "special offers " aren't special and make 400 europeans happy ( that camped out refreshing and waiting for the new cards to pop up on special).

Until then "value" is what you feel at the time. 7 million members and Most don't see the value in purchasing any cards when they can see nude women for free all over the internet includeing the ones on virtuagirl (and see them in porn too). Some see value in a $40 lapdance. Enjoy

Under the previous calender system, how many new cards were made available to all members at a discounted 1-ticket price on the day of release?

Even if you camp out, getting these specials can be hard. I was able to get the first two specials, Jenni Gregg & Melisa on special while at work but missed out on the Duo card.

I couldn't even access the website during the Duo special. I figured that the site was down, and that if no one else had access I would get the last special when the server was back up. About a half hour later, I finally was able to connect, at which point the Duo special was long gone. I guess the server wasn't actually down, but overloaded from too many users.

Oh well, if I had to miss one of them, the Duo would have been it. I guess I can't *****, at least I got the two that I really wanted on special. I have to admit that there is some excitement in getting these "blink and you miss it" specials, and brings some excitement to an otherwise dull workday.

The idea is to make revenue.
Ticket costs vary from $1 to $1.67 each.
If the idea was to sell cards for 2 tickets AND that was the best way to make money then they would not offer monthly, 3 month, and 6 month memberships. They would not have booster packs for $9.95 for 10 girls and they would not offer calandar girls for 1 ticket.

Why do they offer new release cards on special?
To create a buzz and mad dash.
All 400 card purchasers would not have bought the card for 2 tickets.
Some people only buy cards for 1 ticket or less (membership, booster, special, etc.)Ask people who have 300 or 400+ cards. The 400 cards did not cost them $800 dollars.

Why do they have special offers now on older cards?
To get people to buy a card at 1 ticket they did not buy for 2. Like me. They make more money off me this way AND I get more shows. Everybody wins. Now just offer a time limit instead of quantity on the new releases. Bulk of 2 ticket purchases of a card come on release weekend anyways.

I agree.
Get the specials and you are excited. You won.
Homer simpson Woo Hoo!!!

Miss out on a mew release card you really wanted and it is the ***** of defeat. I take the philosophy someone else posted..."hey, i just saved myself spending tickets- thanks totem". I missed a few girls and weeks later I didn't even want some of them when I had them offered for 1 ticket. I, like many others, got caught up in the moment and had to have them immediately- on friday.
I broke the jedi mind trick "these are the cards for 2 tickets you are looking for".

But....sigh...fair system or not I admit the excitement and buzz on friday morning is cool.

Well, there is a time limit according to Totem. It says so right on the home page. Meaning that time runs out when all cards are sold.

Anyway, since all these new cards are so great they'll come up as specials again, or the VIP members eventually get them as trailers. New members get three specials a day, most of which they should buy with their eyes closed. Or the new cards get added to the boosters. There are still plenty of ways to spend one ticket to get what you want here.

Either way, the price is very reasonable for the entertainment we get from each card we purchase. I would prefer if Totem give us the girls we want to see and not worry too much about the price or specials. For example I want ethnic diversity and we have had a few oriental gals in the past weeks but it is high time for a black girl. I will be willing to pay a couple hundred tickets for a new Krystel card if they come out with it,, cuz I am obsessed with her perhaps,,, lol,,,, or she just makes me so damn horny....

Ambler,

It is a number limit, NOT a time limit.
The special card will stay as special until all items are depleted and the number reached zero.
Time as nothing to do with the special (in this sense).

I see that Totem does indeed say something about 'time'.
Check the screenshot.
I cannot understand why time is mentioned on the far right side of the special offer.
The specific text on the bottom mentions only about supplies and gives a finite number.

There really is no time limit, unless that is something I have not seen or read about yet.

@JonC001, I could be wrong but I believe in the past, on the odd occasion, when a card stayed on and on forever without selling out they did finally just move on to the next special.

That is certainly possible.
No need to keep an undesired special for a long time (or keep a desired one beyond the desireable time).

I have no idea about any of the specials, except what users write in the forum.
I have never bought a special since the change from the calendar.

Can anyone confirm a maximum amount of time for a card on special?
Has any card ever been gone before it went down to zero?

I have not seen nor heard of a card being removed from the special offer before quantity had sold out.

If "time" is a factor it would be on an extreme end....meaning the card is offered until it reaches 0 quantity OR 24 hours have passed (for example). But I have seen cards on special for longer than 24 hours.

When you combine time and quantity it usually means "whichever comes first". We have 1000 of this product in stock. The sale lasts friday til we close sunday or until we run out (whichever comes first). No rainchecks.

There is no time limit - 'time' is determined by the speed at which the 400 tix are sold (I think that is what Ambler probably meant)

The longest card to be on special ever was Adrienn/ Sex ***** on HusterGirls before the merge with something between 4 1/2 - 5 days. The only card to date that was switched before completely sold was Stacy Silver/ Warm Summer on HG due to the merger of the specials between VGHD and HG.

On VGHD this has never happened and the slowest special was somewhere around 12 hours.

I may be wrong, but I think that if the card is not selling, one card is removed automatically from the total after a certain period of time, thus reducing the total. If it is every 2 minutes, and the card doesn't sell at all it would be listed for just over 13 hours, therefore giving it a time restraint. Maybe Rex could clarify this.

I noticed that before the HustlerGirls special offers were synched with VGHD, a single special offer card on HG could be up for a couple of days or more.

For instance the special offers for last three new cards on HG the week before the synch happened, took up most of the week since they lasted not far off two days each.

So no - I don't think there is any time limit on special offers. If a card sold it's 400 allocation very slowly it could be up for days, and probably would remain on offer until the last card was sold.

I think that's probably why the synch between HG and VGHD happened actually - to avoid cards remaining on special offer for such a long time. The turnover of special offers on HG is now a lot faster, whereas the turnover on VGHD is only slightly faster.
