I think it would be a good idea to charge a couple of credits for us to upgrade a card to greater quality. Then the the number of cards updated might increase.
I made a similar suggestion more than a year ago. I suggest that Totem should charge half the difference in price between then old resolution and the new one. The real problem is that Totem's sales system doesn't seem to be able to support this.
Seems a lot of members might decide they’re satisfied with what they currently have and not be interested in paying more credits for an update they’re not entirely convinced they need.
If someone doesn't want the better quality, they pay nothing and don't download it. Right now Totem's only source of income for remastered cards is customers who don't already own the card because of low quality. By charging for the improved resolution, Totem would get some additional income from people who already own the card but don't play it because of low resolution. I'm one of them.
The big problem is that the current system, the iStripper UI, the web site, and Totem's database don't support this. They might have decided that the cost of changing the software exceeds the possible profit.
