1st Gen Ryzen 7 1700x Reporting In

  • Ryzen 7 1700x 8 Core / 16 Threads @ 3.8GHz cooled with a Corsair H110i Extreme 280mm Rad
  • Asus ROG Crosshair VI Wifi AC Motherboard
  • Corsair DDR4 3200MHz 16GB
  • Asus ROG Radeon RX 580 8GB @ 1360MHz
  • Crucial 525GB M.2 SATA SSD
  • Various HDDs

Speecy still seems to not apply the 20c offset so my temp seems high for idle/low usage but Aida64 reports the correct temp.

At least 42% of people who take part in the survey think so. I mean people with PCs and MACs in the uber and high-end range.

I believe that this topic has not been created to brag about your equipment.
The question in the first post was: "Do you consider your pc/mac: uber, high-end, midrange, low end, a potato?", not "Who have the biggest and hardest d**k?" 😆

@lukaszr

😆😆👍

Here in Canada, a lot of guys have huge (as in lift-kited, oversized tires and such) pick-up trucks. I think they may be compensating for their own puny d**k. Maybe it's the same in the computer world.

Some people have a nice house, some a nice car, some a nice computer....

Never be little someone cause of what they value even if it is all so trivial.

From my life experiences as a 37y/o guy, from what I've seen/heard I think it makes no difference.
In my mid 20's I heard that saying and for a while believed it could be true, but years later realised it (probably) doesn't even slightly.

Its just an hobby, nothing more nothing less.

Not really belittling anybody. Guys in drilling camps in the Canadian north like to brag about their trucks. Being one of the few girls in that venue years ago, let's just say the bigger the truck.......

There's some parts of those days that I miss. I don't really miss being one of the camp whores though.

Nice little vid. 👍😊

Its the same for everyone. Just some people get more lucky or unlucky than usual. That's just life.
We can either live a boring life under some religions morals values, or live life how we want to.

My intention wasn't for people to post their specs at all(i haven't posted mine). I don't mind that people have posted theirs though.

I wanted to know what the average system was for two reasons, 1. so i can see what i can get away with when badly programming shaders and 2. if the average was high enough(it is atm) to show totem that they could transfer the girl decode/playback/scaling over to the gpu which would give better performance for less power, higher image quality(better scaler), and open up the use of shaders on the desktop. This would be optional as there are some users that have low spec rigs.

So that's what this is all about.

You left it pretty vague and quite open to individual interpretation. Only things you specified were the number of CPU cores and how much RAM.

What do you call midrange for a GPU and what do you consider high end for a GPU ? If you want to try to demand that Totem puts more dependence on the GPU to suit you, you should probably be a bit more specific. They might need some baselines to test with.

I'm not demanding anything. Sorry if i want to make it better for all of us somehow. /s

It's not what I call a midrange gpu it's what the entire pc community call a midrange gpu and are sold as such. The list is easy to look up. This will give you an idea... https://www.gamingscan.com/gpu-hierarchy/

You are ignoring the other part, which is for my use. Theres not much point in my making a fullscreen scene which maxes out my gpu if no-one else can use it is there...

@Z22
The word "Demand" was nowhere in my post. I think almost everyone has something they want to be added, changed, deleted or moved to better suit them. There's absolutely nothing wrong with saying so. However, giving a person an attitude for saying it can be an issue. Not mentioning the scene tweaking you do does not necessarily mean I'm "Ignoring" it.

Putting that link in the opening post would've been more helpful than posting it now in that nice and friendly manner.

np. :>) thought i was seeing a pattern of mod behaviour(accusations of demands) there for a min(i am autistic so i see patterns everywhere though).

You posted before i finished editing my previous post... I would hardly call writing scenes from scratch tweeking, admitadly they are not amazing or anything but still...

Back to the specs, i put mine in the high end but with the 2080 series coming out in a few days that will put it closer to midrange. So bottom end of what will be the new high end.
