Now, I am unpleasently surprised at seeing a girl appear in my Desktop with a large sign, telling me to buy an outfit.
This IS Adware... and of the worst kind, as it is an INTRUSION in our Desktops. PLEASE STOP IT! It's enough with your announcing it on your Home Page (and you already do announce VG things in your DB Website and viceversa).
LET US CHOOSE AND DO NOT BOMBARD US WITH UNWANTED ADS!!!

i have actually never seen a clip where a girl pops up with a sign telling me to buy anything.. i have never even seen any ADWARE on this site that annoys me.

And ya as Wyldanimal says.. its pretty easy to remove.

and btw.. you say that you are unpleasently surprised that a girl suddenly appears telling you to buy something, did that happen ones? thats atleast how i understand it. So if it happend ones how can that be BOMBARDING you with ads?

and again i have never had any problems with ADS so they are definitely not giving us any unwanted ones.

Since Not everyone Participates in the Forums, Totem needed a way to get Messages to their Users.
Having a model Popup Holding an Announcement is NOT ADWARE.


This new version also features models handling boards with information and ads. Ads will be displayed solely to users with empty collection who enjoy our product without paying. Information will be displayed to everyone, it will contain news from the website such as the release of a new version, booster packs, the advantages of reaching the next level or , the start of an auction. For users with at least one card in their collection, there is a "Display info clips" box that can be unchecked in advanced settings.

By the way,
ADWARE is software that is Paid for and supported by Advertising.
The Software Presents Ad's that are Not related to the Program you are using, the Ad's are fee based and offset the cost of the software.

Example:
ADWARE Graphic arts Drawing program.
You see an AD to go buy a new computer. or You see an Ad to go buy a car.
That's ADWARE.


TOTEM is NOT using ADWARE to support their software.
The Popups are Informational related to Totem.

Free Members, Ones who Have not Bought anything and Have no Cards.
will see Popups suggesting them to purchase a card.
Again, not what I consider ADWARE.

I agree that it is not "adware", and if you don't want the "information clips" it is very easy to stop them from showing up on your desktop...as has been illustrated above by CyberVixen, and explained by Wyldanimal. The simple act of unchecking a box in adanced settings...pretty easy.
I decided to leave the information clips active for now out of curiousity, and I find the models providing information to be a cool way to see what's happening on Totem. I certainly don't mind a beautiful woman showing up with a sign. :)

It seems very useful indeed. Right info, at the right time, at the right place could be priceless sometimes.

Does this option came with the new release - haven't seen this before - still running 1.1.0.38?

Guess that me, like some other members just can't read some times, when the THING is right under the nose ];-)

I love the new Info-girls, it would be cool if they can have the day's weather/date or something like that on their sign. Then if someone accidentally opens VG on my computer I can just tell them "oh thats just my weather app."

I agree with 3legs, these appearances are great!
@Jashoda: i agree with your point, that's why I've asked in the 'new ideas needed' thread and in a thread about WA's player that Totem build a clip based playlist manager instead of a card based one. Shouldn't be much work. Of course renaming the files would be great too, as would being able to filter on clip length and and and .. {blablabla etcetera}

A "weather" app would be awesome, although it could prove to be a daunting task for Totem, since members are from all around the world. They would have to program it to display the weather in specific areas. Great idea, though!
I wonder if they could do something entertaining that would not require global adjustments.
Anyhow, I am quite impressed with the new "information clips", and the possibilities for it's use are almost boundless. It should be interesting to see how Totem can put this to full use.

This is a bit off the topic as my posts pretty often tend to be, but... this weather app exists already on Windows _ Desktop gadgets _ Weather... so IF VGHD could run it in compatible mod, it would be possible. This way every member would see the weather of his/her own area reported by the desktop Girls...

Man, I'm going to like this idea!

For the Next Version, we need a Button to Manually Activate the Last Informational Clip.

seeing it once, isn't enough, what if you missed it and want to play it again?

or you could select your favorite sports scores, and the Model pops up to announce the Scores on her card.

Or if you are Listening to Music, when a new song starts She Pops up to Display Song info. name of Song, Artist...

Girl Pops up, and Photo's from you selected Folder are displayed on her board. Click on the Girl and the full size Photo is opened.
then Next Girl, next Photo...


Totem will need to Film More Girls Holding these Cards, Maybe even a Little Dance across the Screen..

Adding to the brainstorming... why not reintroduce the alarm function connecting the signs to Android and Iphone calendars via Google or Apple =)

I've been asking for the alarm back since VGHD was first released in 2007... I love that function in the classic version.

Ahhhhghhh....I don't need VG weather girls...I've got good sources of weather I'm happy with. Don't want sports, tunes, etc.
Totem should use these "extras" to focus on what they do...provide sexy entertainment & get people to spend $$$ on VG DB.
Getting the "freeloaders" (no cards) to buy some cards would seem to be most important.
If the pop up girl could offer a "buy me for 1 credit by clicking on me here (or "clicking on my tits" even) action that would get the party started for newbies who are not yet willing to spend $$$ yet.Get really sexy girls/cards with Xplicit action (Natali Blond, Zara,Cindy Dollar style performances)so Newbie gets a WhamBangZinger right away & can be tempted to get more!
Newbies should maybe not be able to disable the pop ups (about 6 at least)UNTIL they buy at least one card.(perhaps the girl can have a board that says "Click on my tits & get me for 1 credit to make this pop up go away")Or maybe it can be clearly stated somewhere that the way to not have the pop up is to-"take advantage of our introductory offer".
Later on, after newbies have bought at least 1 (more?)cards the "pop up" girls" can come on maybe having suggestive things on their board...("Enjoying the way I wiggle? Let me show you more."-"I'm lonely here....take me home with you!" Model could look down & be surprised with a board that says-"Oooweee...do THAT with me!" Etc.)These would have to be able to be disabled as they are ads & cute 'tho they may be, can become tiresome over time.

Alarm can be a voice over...Imagine Jana Cova, Aletta Ocean,Ariel types popping up to say the message..."Hey sleepyhead...Wake up & shower with me.' or "Hey look at me now, you've got to go..(later you can come back & look at me & Cum)"
Well Totem can water that down as they do according to their "taste".

Don't waste resources on stuff we already have & don't really need.
